Politics
I guess I am pretty new to politics. I've never really gotten into them much until this year. I guess I never realized how important they really were until now. It always seemed like a circle to me, people arguing back and forth. Talk about one big headache. But now it's become much more clearer. I guess because I've grown and matured more. I've also been afraid to share my opinions on issues with other people because I know there's a possibility of debate..and I'm shy or not too good with confrontation. I'm sure there's still a lot I don't know about some things, so it's hard to make a clear opinion. Sometimes its hard to understand what's going on, so I ask the people around me a lot of questions. I finally get to vote this year so I'm trying my best to be careful and sure of the opinions that I develop.
Gay Marriages
Talk about a touchy subject. I, myself, think that gay people should be allowed to do the same as straight people. I mean, really, who is it hurting? We're not in the their marriage forced to be apart of it. Is our Government being ran by religion? Because in the Bible it says that marriage is between one man and one woman..and our Government shouldn't be ran by any religion. It just seems so silly to me. They're people too. They aren't any lower then anyone else. It's just who they are..they can't change it. They can't turn UN-gay. Why should they not be happy like everyone else? If it makes them happy to get married, then just let them. It's a ceremony for friends and family to come together and for them to commit to one another for the rest of their lives..no one else should interfere with that.

Yayy
So I got my first essay back, and I did much better then I expected. Wooo! I was actually a little nervous.
Now we're all working on our second essays. I picked Prop. 104, the Civil Rights Initiative, but unfortunatley it wasn't even passed..but I can still do my paper on it. It's pretty disappointing that it wasn't passed. Basically the prop. says that no specific group of people (race, religion, sex) should be given any special treatment over others in colleges, work places, etc. Why wouldn't we want that? Isn't that what our country has been aiming for over all of these years? Equality. Or at least I thought so..
I still have a lot of work to do. I think I messed up my bibliography, but I'll just make sure I do it right next time..oops!
